I have been so busy lately that I haven't had a chance to post about anything. I really have been so overwhelmed!! But I do have to say that I am really happy with my students' progress. They have all come so far and I am so proud. Here is our latest art project!!
We have been back in school several weeks now and I finally feel like we are getting into a routine that works for my class!! We have had a few ups and down but this week has been really good!! I really feel like we are finally getting somewhere!! Things have finally calmed down and I really love my kids!! I have been working very hard on focusing mostly on the positives!! We have "SPARKLES" and they love them. It has been really good at getting everyone on the same page and getting behavior under control!! I am also working on some new packets and I just finished a 0-10 Tracing Number Pack!! This pack is available right now for FREE for the whole weekend as a thank you to all my followers!! I am sorry I have been so hit or miss with my posts. I am really going to try to do better!! So I hope you enjoy!! Click on the image below to download from my TpT store.
I have been a little stressed about this new school year!! I knew I was going to have a bigger class and I was hoping I would have enough desks!! I went from having 16 last year to over 20 this year, which doesn't sound like many more but every extra body makes a difference!! I also have a lot of rowdy boys this year and I have had to keep them moving every 10 mins or so. Every year I forget how tough the beginning of school is and I think this year has been the toughest in a very long while, but day by day it is getting a little better!! I have had to rethink what I used last year and really SLOW down so I have been quite stressed but I keep reminding myself to just take it day by day!!
I LOVE reading this story and the Kinders LOVE the song!! I am soo excited, I just signed my Kinders and I up for the letter exchange for next year!! I didn't get to do it last year but I know the Kinders will love it!! Thanks to Chrissy @ First Grade Found Me!!
I am sooo glad summer is here! But teaching summer school seems to last FOREVER!! It is a nice change for me to be teaching 5th graders math but I have SUMMERITIS for sure!! I am working on some Freebies so check back this week for my posts!! Hope everyone is having a great summer!!
I was so tired when I got home yesterday!! All I wanted to do was rest, but we had a blast! Yesterday was our Kindergarten field trip! We visited Blue Bell Creameries in Brenham, TX and then had lunch, played, and rode a carousel in the park. It is the best trip!! Very inexpensive and ice cream is included!! At Blue Bell, my kinders learned so much about how to make ice cream and I was so proud of them for all their brilliant questions and comments. Our tour guide gave me lots of praises about how smart they are!! :) YES!! At the beginning of the tour she tried to "dum" it down as she put it. She started out trying to explain a picture about the old building they used to use before moving to this new one and explaining what they used it for and one of my kinders corrected her and said "That is called a factory!" She laughed and said yes you are right it is a FACTORY!! Then we moved on and saw exactly where they make everything and they were asking what does that gear do? And what is that machine? I am with them everyday, I know they ask questions like that and we talk about things like that. I just thought they were really doing a good job of behaving and paying attention, but as we were walking out, she stopped me and the administrator that came along to help to compliment us on how smart my class was and to tell me that she had NEVER seen such intelligent questions before especially from Kindergarteners!! This is my first year to teach Kinder after teaching 1st for 5 years. It is definitely a different world and I AM SOOOO VERY PROUD OF THEM!! And thank goodness for blogs!! It has helped me become a better teacher!!
Lately, I have been evaluating my year so far and thinking about some things I would like to add for next year!! I have been working really hard on coming up with some new items that are almost done. I also just opened my Teacher's Notebook Shop and would like to get the word out!! Sooooooooo
I am having my first Giveaway! From now until May 5th!! Let's see how this goes!!

Check out a few on YouTube!!
Friday was crazy busy! We had lots of things we had to finish, kindergarten grad pictures, and report cards to go out! I was walking my students out to the playground to meet the coach for P.E. and one of my little girls, "Little Susie" said Mrs. Lamia something is on me! Of course, I was thinking it was just her imagination or some sort of bite, so I said Little Susie come here and let me see! She was pulling at her ear so I pulled back her hair and pulled down her ear to see the back and there definitely was something on her! A TICK!! I quietly freaked, quickly grabbed it and threw it on the ground. I was cringing inside but I calmly took her to the nurse and we checked her hair and clothes. Didn't find anything else, but the nurse said to me "So did you save the tick?" SAVE THE TICK??? UMMM NO! That was definitely the last thing on my mind! I remembered that I had thrown it on the sidewalk, so I ran back down the hall to see if I could find. Sure enough it hadn't gone far, and another teacher and I found it. She scooped it up in a sheet of notebook paper and I took it back down to the nurse. She wrapped it in scotch tape to send it home to the parents. The whole rest of the day I felt like something was crawling on me!! This is my 6th year teaching and another first for me! You just never know what your day is going to hold.
My internet at home is out and so I haven't had time to find a place to post anything from lately. I have lots to catch up on!!
TODAY- It has been a very long and eventful day for my Kinder Kids and I. Today was Parent Involvement Day. We started off the morning with an awesome presentation from our Reading Specialist! When met her first husband, they moved to a reservation in AZ and they lived there with there children for about 20 years. She did a wonderful presentation about customs, taught the kids some word in Hopi, showed us lots of pictures, and brought some items to show us. Then we came back to the room to do some art. Meanwhile..... I had baby ducks in a box covered up in the back of the room and no one noticed. (a couple of kids glanced back there with a weird look but no one said anything!! LOL!!) Then, the Game Warden came to talk to us about his job. Next, it was time for P.E. and then we rushed in, got cleaned up and headed to the parking lot, where an ambulance was waiting for us!! Everyone wanted to lay on the stretcher and Mrs. Heine was volunteered to be the guinea pig!! Yea!! They strapped her down and flipped her over (see pic below) and the kids even got to get into the ambulance. They loved it! Just as we were finishing up an helicopter flew really low over us! Sooooo Coooool! So we quickly got our stuff and went to lunch. Because right after lunch, we got to go see the helicopter too! Two very nice state troopers talked to us and showed us their helicopter. Everyone also go to jump up into the backseat and take a look around! This was definitely our favorite part, because we couldn't STOP talking about it!! Then we headed back to our room and put our head down on our desk to cool down a minute (and still no one noticed the sounds!!) and we did a little work, dyed some eggs, and finally I gave them a hint so we played with the ducks! Then we went to recess for a few minutes, then headed back to the football field to see the helicopter off, and then back to the building to get our bags and do our Easter Egg Hunt!! Finally, time to go home!! WHAT A DAY!!
Just had to post these! We did these awesome art projects and writing the week before spring break as we were talking about Dr. Suess! Just take a look! (Thing 1 and Thing 2 art created by Mel D @ Suesstastic Classroom Inspirations and they are sooooo cute!)

Soooo today, no kiddos and teachers had inservice!! I got quite a few things done in between everything and learned how to use some new things. (although probably won't ever use it again!!) I also did a little blog hopping!! Anyway, back to inservice! There is apparently a new type of powerpoint program that is free and available online. Seems very helpful if you travel a lot and want to make sure you don't misplace your info. It is fairly easy to use and you can also easily post info to the web or make things available to the entire public. It is called Prezi. You can take a look by clicking on the word. I don't really use powerpoint very much but maybe it will be useful to someone else!!
